Best Hostels in Seoul
Seoul is a lively and dynamic mega-city in East Asia and as such, the prices of accommodation can skyrocket during the busy periods.
To make your life easier, we have assembled a list of what we believe to be the best cheap hostels in Seoul, so you don’t have to break the bank when visiting this incredible city.
Seoul is one of our favourite cities in the world and we promise it can be done on a budget, you just have to know where to look.
We’ve assessed everything a good hostel should have and made sure that the hostels on this list all have:
Good price - Seoul isn’t a particularly cheap city to visit, certainly not compared to popular spots in South East Asia, so the hostels need to be affordable for a budget traveller so you can spend your money elsewhere
Good location - the hostel needs to be close to the major sites in Seoul
Good reviews - there is no better way to assess how good a hostel is than reading the reviews by fellow travellers
Good vibes - this one is harder to assess, but we try and give you an idea of whether the hostel has a party vibe, chill vibe or is better for digital nomads and longer stays
Is Seoul Walkable? Thankfully, Seoul is routinely voted one of the most walkable cities in the world, so you can save even more money by walking everywhere and staying at an affordable hostel!

Tips for staying in Hostels in Seoul (and elsewhere)
When we travel, we prefer to stay in hostels. It’s our preferred accommodation option because it’s affordable and you get to meet people from all around the world. Over the years we have learned plenty of tips for surviving in hostels as a couple and so we thought we’d share a few of them here for you.
Even if you are a solo traveller, these tips will help you out when you’re staying in a hostel in Seoul - and anywhere else in the world for that matter.
Mixed-gender dorms aren’t popular in Seoul - something that took us by surprise was the lack of mixed-gender dorm rooms in Seoul and South Korea in general. Typically, if travelling as a couple, you will either need to book a private room or know that you’re likely to get split up even after booking a ‘mixed-gender dorm’ online
Bring some great travel games with you - it’s our number one tip for meeting new people at a hostel. Playing some of the best travel games is a super easy ice-breaker and a great way to socialise in a hostel!
Use a towel as a privacy curtain on a bed - not all hostel rooms have curtains on the beds, so one of our best packing tips for long-term travel is to bring a set of quick-dry microfiber towels with you and use one as a regular towel and the other can double-up as a curtain for that bit of extra privacy.
There we have it folks, a complete round-up of the best hostels in Seoul. South Korea’s dynamic capital city is an incredible place to explore in East Asia and we hope this list of hostels helps you to find a great, affordable accommodation option for your stay in Seoul.
